Air Company officially released its Air Vodka for retail with the launch of its online e-commerce platform on August 26. Sipping vodka, the startup’s first consumer product, stands out from other vodka brands because it’s fighting climate change.
The new vodka from Air Company has a different production method. The startup has its own patented distillation system that runs on renewable solar electricity.
This system takes CO2 from the air and turns it into pure ethanol for the vodka. For every bottle of Air Vodka produced, a pound of the greenhouse gas is removed, thus making it the world’s first carbon-negative spirit, according to the company.
The result? An 80-proof premium vodka so pure that it tastes, as British GQ put it, “almost like water” and “clean and crisp like a shard of light.”
