Located in Avenida Santa Elena Ron Cartavio is a Peruvian rum company with a history that dates back to 1929. It was taken over by the Peruvian government in 1968 due to state land reform and has taken numerous names between that time and now but after serious modernization in 2013 the rum is now being exported to foreign markets. Cartavio ferments Peruvian sugarcane molasses and distills rum in both copper pots and continuous column stills. The rums are aged in fourteen different warehouses in both American and European white oak and offer an incredibly soft and smooth profile upon first taste. The 12 year solera is a mix of rums that are run through a solera of Bourbon sherry and Slovenian oak casks with a rich and robust sweetness that reminds one of the heavily-sherried Spanish style.
